DLI’s Introduction to Drycleaning course provides students with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to better understand the complete drycleaning process.

Whether you are new to the industry, preparing to take on a larger role in your business, or looking to strengthen your existing knowledge, this 5-day course combines classroom instruction with practical, hands-on experience. Students learn from experienced DLI instructors while working with the processes, techniques, and equipment used in professional garment care.

This course covers essential skills and techniques, including:

  • Sorting garments for drycleaning


  • Cleaning delicate fabrics such as silk and satin


  • Operating modern drycleaning machines


  • Removing common stains like coffee, ink, and grease


  • Pressing pants, coats, and skirts to professional standards


  • Using tensioning equipment to enhance finishing quality

03/01/2027 at 8:30 AM (EST)   |  4 days, 8 hours  |  Graded as Pass/Fail Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday- Friday. Students will divide their time between classroom instruction and hands-on training. After learning the concepts in the classroom, students will move into DLI’s training facility to apply what they have learned using professional drycleaning equipment, spotting boards, finishing equipment, and other industry tools. This combination of classroom learning and practical experience gives students the opportunity to practice techniques, ask questions, and gain experience with the processes discussed throughout the course.
